An Ongoing Destruction: Day 5 of our Refugee Women project

Updated: Mar 6, 2024

The first activity of the fifth day of our project was a bonding event that aimed to bring the participants together. Participants were divided into two groups of equal numbers of men and women. Two carpets or nylon tarpaulins were provided for each group. The first group stood quietly on the carpets, while the other group gently pulled the carpet under the feet of the participants standing on the carpets, causing them to lose their balance. The only rule was that participants had to stand. Those who lost their balance were removed from the game and the game continued until it was completely over. After this fun game coordinated by the Turkish team leader, the next activity was the stakeholder visit.

The aim of the stakeholder visit was to meet the needs of refugee women together with the Wien Provincial Refugee Administration, which supported our project. The participants received support from the Wien Refugee Administration to set up a Needs Stand in the Wien Shopping Center to spread the word to the local community. The stand was flanked by Erasmus Plus posters and participants, armed with balloons with the Erasmus Plus logo, walked around the shopping center to draw attention to women refugees. This event was organized in cooperation with the Wien County Refugee Administration and the participants had a good time and informed the local community about the problems faced by refugee women, in line with the aim of our project.

Afterwards, the participants attended the cultural night of our Bulgarian partner at the hotel. During this event, Bulgarian dishes and dances were discussed, intercultural ties were strengthened and efforts were made to break prejudices. The last activities of the day, the day evaluation and leader's meeting, brought the fifth day to a pleasant end.
